A friend of mine just traveled to Ireland with her husband right after Easter, and I was enjoying her photos on her Facebook page. It reminded me of our journey together! In February 2016, the next parish pilgrimage will be to the place where it all started: the Holy Land! I went there for the first time this past January, and it truly does change how you read and hear the Gospel! Here is a link to the brochure for the pilgrimage; I'd love to travel and pray with you again. Holy Infant parish in Durham will be joining us, too. A note about the journey- remember climbing the stairs at Blarney Castle or the cobblestone streets? There'll be several places like that... not quite as steep, but steps and uneven pavement. I've been thinking of you all as Patrick's feast day approaches. May you celebrate it well, and be richly blessed! The trip blog for the February 2016 pilgrimage to the Holy Land is now a reality: http://holyland2016.weebly.com/ Whether or not you plan to join this pilgrimage, let us pray for each other throughout our faith journeys! Did you all get Howard's email on April 26, inviting us to a reunion dinner at the Hibernian in Cary on Saturday, May 24th? I did, but I just remembered today that I have not yet emailed him my "YES!" If you can't find that email and need his email address, please contact me (Cathy) and I'll forward it on to you. Hope you can make it! Here's the address for the blog for our next pilgrimage, to France this September! 2014france.weebly.com This link will take you to Joseph's obituary. His funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 am in Charlotte, and inurnment will be later at St. Andrew's Columbarium. http://ireader.olivesoftware.com/Olive/iReader/NewsAndObserverPress/SharedArticle.ashx?document=NAO%5C2013%5C12%5C12&article=Ar01804 It is with great sadness I pass on the news that Joseph Sie died while vacationing in Peru. He and Maria had been touring South America for the past few weeks, and were on their way to Machu Picchu. Funeral arrangements will be posted here once they have been finalized. Eternal rest grant unto him, o Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him. Thanks to Bill and Jeanette for hosting our Ireland Reunion party last Friday,
and to everyone who contributed something delicious, shared photos and took the time to catch up with each other! If you have not yet seen our trip photo book, it is in the box outside Cathy's office. And- looking forward, if you would like to find out about the September 2014 Pilgrimage to France, there will be an information meeting on Saturday, November 2 from 4-5pm at St. Andrew's. With many thanks to Bill Carraway, Trevor Hardy, Michael Jawabreh, Meridith Orr, Barbara Rusin and Mary Zugell for sharing their photos with me, I've just finished putting together a photo album from the trip! Your should be able to view it by clicking here.
Do you have a few favorite Ireland photos you'd be willing to share? I'm about to put together a photo album, and would love to have some great shots from a variety of perspectives. If you don't want to mess with uploading to the shared shutterfly site, it's fine to just email them to me (adult_faith[at]saintandrew[dot]org), please. And I think it's about time we got together for a reunion! Do either of the next two weekends (June 21 or 22, 28, 29 or 30) hold promise? Let me know your preferences, please! |
